The blue Smart Primer base coat from the IONIC range in a 60 ml package. It prepares the surface of a model before painting and gives blue shades a base close to them in color.
Responsibility details are not available.
A base coat comes in as the first layer on an assembled, washed and dry model. It unifies a surface put together from differently colored parts, improves the adhesion of the coats that follow and, above all, shows up what is hard to see on bare material: sanding marks, scratches and seams that have not been finished. Putting them right at this point is considerably easier than later, once the model is painted.
A colored base shortens the way to the result everywhere the finished surface is to be from the same color family. Over a blue base, blue settles into one layer where over gray it would need two or three, and the cool tone of the base keeps the model in a uniform key even in places where the paint stays thin. It comes into its own under blue camouflage, naval schemes, uniforms and fantasy surfaces. Count on warm shades, that is yellow or orange, needing more layers over blue instead.
First wash the surface, degrease it and let it dry out thoroughly. Then apply the base coat in thin layers, rather two than one heavy one, so that fine detail and raised relief are not flooded. Let the coat dry properly before further painting. The way of application, any thinning and the suitability for a particular material are stated by the manufacturer on the packaging; follow those instructions.
A separate 60 ml package of base coat is offered. The model, paints and tools are not included, unless stated otherwise.
