Ivory is a warm creamy off-white from the Model Air line of Vallejo. It is a modeling paint, not a kit. Model Air is a water-thinnable acrylic with finely ground pigments, mixed directly for airbrush spraying: from the 17 ml dropper bottle it can be sprayed as it is, with no obligatory thinning. Depending on the pressure and the nozzle it can be fine-tuned with airbrush thinner or with a flow improver. It dries to a flat surface.
Pure white looks unnatural on a model. On a small surface it comes across as cold and flat, like bare plastic; in the real world white is almost always lit by warm light, it weathers and yellows with time. A warm off-white is therefore more realistic: it keeps the light impression but lets shadows, detail and later weathering come through.
Spray onto a primed surface in several thin coats and let them set between one another; light shades go on more easily in two passes than in one heavy coat, which floods the detail. Shake the paint well before use. Wash the airbrush and the brushes with water right after work, as dried acrylic is considerably harder to remove.
