Mineshima O-11D is a foam sanding pad with a very fine 800 to 1000 grit, divided into segments like a jigsaw puzzle.
Responsibility details are not available.
Abrasive applied to a flexible foam backing from the Japanese brand Mineshima. The pad is pressed into shapes resembling a jigsaw puzzle, so you can break off a smaller piece exactly according to where you need to reach while the rest stays whole. A grit of eight hundred to one thousand places this piece among the very fine abrasives, that is, for finishing the surface, not for removing material.
It works best wet. Soak a piece in water with a drop of dish soap, guide the abrasive with light pressure and rinse the surface as you go so that the clogged slurry does not gather in the grit. Wet working also produces almost no dust. The foam backing adapts to a curve by itself, but on flat surfaces put something hard behind the piece, or the edges will lick the corners round. Once dry, degrease the surface, or the paint will hold on it less well.
For builders of plastic kits and for figure collectors who need a fine finish before painting, and for anyone sanding rounded surfaces who wants an abrasive that adapts to the shape.
Dry sanding produces fine dust. Work in a ventilated space and protect your airways; wet sanding is more pleasant in this respect.
