Anyone painting a sorcerer, an alchemist or an elven seer needs a different palette from someone building a tank. This make-up is put together for exactly such characters: for fiery discharges in the palms, for glowing runes, for the precious metal of rings and staff heads and for the dark corners of a cloak. The eight bottles form two opposing families between which you can move freely.
The warm side is held by a fiery orange, a rich scarlet and a very opaque red that asserts itself even on a dark base. The cold side is represented by a bright electric blue, a deeper blue of spells and its opaque counterpart. The eight are closed off by a gold metallic shade and a black toning solution, which runs into the grooves by itself and within moments picks out the folds of fabric and the links of armor.
A procedure that has proved itself. First two thin opaque coats, after drying the black toning into the recesses, then lightening on the edges, and finally spot highlights in the lightest shade where the spell is meant to glow literally. Gold mixed with a little of the toning solution goes matte and looks older, which suits relics and grips. It is thinned with water, it holds equally well on plastic, resin and a metal casting, and it dries matte, so a final protective coat does not lose gloss where it should not be.
