The Gunze flat modeling file with a single cut in the smooth grade is made for finishing surfaces, where the point is no longer removal but the smoothness of the surface.
Responsibility details are not available.
A single cut means that the teeth run in one direction only, not crosswise. Such a file removes material more calmly, leaves a more continuous mark and bites into soft plastic less than a cross cut. The smooth grade designation then says at which stage of the work the tool is used: at the very end, when the shape is done and the surface is what is being dealt with.
The same range offers the same version in a coarse grade and also a half-round and a square profile. The coarse grade is for quickly taking a larger excess off and leaves a noticeable mark; the smooth one follows it and erases that mark. The half-round and square profiles then deal with the shape of the place, not the coarseness. The choice therefore rests on two independent axes: how much you want to remove and what shape you need to get into.
For the modeler who already has a coarser abrasive and lacks a tool for the last stage before painting. It serves well on large flat surfaces, where any scratch from a coarse file gives itself away at once under a gloss finish.
Do not breathe in the dust from sanding plastic and work in a ventilated space. Clean the file after work, as clogged teeth stop cutting and start tearing the plastic.
