Dust is the enemy of a smooth finish. It settles on a model during sanding, during filling and during ordinary standing on the table, and under a sprayed coat it leaves a grain that can only be removed by sanding back and spraying again. A dusting brush is meant exactly so that the surface can be rid of dust quickly and gently just before spraying. The anti-static treatment of the bundle limits both the clinging of particles to the hair and their attraction back to the model, so the dust swept off does not return.
The bundle is of black goat hair. It is soft and springy, it slides over the surface even without pressure and it leaves no scratches on freshly sanded plastic, on clear parts or on a dried finish. On transparent parts that shows most, because even a fine scratch on a cockpit canopy is visible through it on a finished model.
After sanding, go over the surface with light strokes in one direction and lead the dust off the model, not into corners and recesses. It is just as useful to go over the model just before spraying and once more before applying decals, where a grain under the film would create a bubble. No pressure is needed, as the hair does the work itself. Keep the brush dry and do not dip it into paint or thinner. After work, tap the bundle out and store the brush so that the hair does not stay bent.
For modelers who spray and clear coat and want the surface genuinely clean before the paint, and for everyone who needs to dust a finished model in a display case gently. Paints, thinners and other modeling chemicals are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
