Mr. Color canvas paint is a subdued beige-gray shade imitating unpainted canvas. A lacquer paint in a package of 10 ml.
Responsibility details are not available.
The shade captures the look of canvas and doped fabric, that is the material from which vehicle tarpaulins, tents, covers and the skinning of older aircraft were made. The tone is unobtrusive, between beige and light gray, because unpainted fabric never has a clean color. It is precisely this unobtrusiveness that is wanted on a model: a tarpaulin should look like textile, not like painted sheet metal.
The colorant carries a volatile lacquer binder, so water thinners are out of the question. Only the brand's own product can thin it, usually in a dose of around half the volume. The bottle holds ten milliliters; the cured film takes a wash, with which the folds of canvas are drawn out.
Canvas on a model often looks too smooth, because a plastic part has no fabric texture. A contrast between light edges and dark folds can replace that better than any paint on its own.
Canvas on real vehicles rarely looked new. It therefore pays to leave part of the surfaces darker and to dirty the lower edges more markedly, because that is exactly where the material rubbed against the body and picked up dust from the road.
