Mr. Ultra Single Blade Nipper are single-blade modeling nippers from Gunze for separating parts cleanly from the sprue.
Responsibility details are not available.
Modeling nippers with a single blade, that is the tool with which a part is separated from the sprue when building plastic models. Unlike ordinary two-blade nippers, the single-blade type has a flat bearing face opposite the cutting edge. The cut is therefore smoother and a smaller sprue nub is left on the part, so the subsequent cleaning up is shorter and the plastic is deformed less at the cut.
With two-blade nippers the plastic is squeezed from both sides as it is nipped and the place of the cut often goes lighter. A single-blade tool markedly reduces that effect, which shows especially on darkly colored plastic and on small parts, where sanding would risk losing the shape. A tool with a thin edge is sensitive to overloading, though: keep your older nippers for rough work and heavy sprues and save this tool for finishing cuts.
It will be appreciated by modelers who dislike white marks from nipping and who want to cut down the time spent over abrasive paper, and by builders of kits with a large number of small parts, where the cleanness of every cut adds up.
A sharp tool. Keep out of the reach of children and protect your eyes when nipping small parts, as flying pieces of plastic are unpleasant.
