MT-309 Waterproof Sand Paper #2000 (4 Sheets)

Gunze Mr. Waterproof Sand Paper 2000 grit (4 sheets)

A set of four sheets of waterproof abrasive paper of 2000 grit from the manufacturer Gunze (Mr.Hobby). 2000 grit is so fine that it is no longer classic sanding but rather polishing of the surface. The paper is waterproof, so it is sanded wet: the water carries the sanding dust away, reduces clogging of the paper and the result is smoother and more even.

Use

• Leveling orange peel: it refines the rippled, slightly textured surface that appears after a finish is sprayed with an airbrush or a spray can.
• Preparation for polishing compound: it knocks back small imperfections and prepares a smooth base, and it is exactly this step that opens the way to a deep, mirror-like wet shine.
• Spot repair: it removes small specks of dust or flecks in a finish without disturbing the surrounding area.
• Wet sanding: dampen the sheet, or add a drop of water to the surface; sand with a light, even pressure.

Who it is for

For modelers who want a perfectly smooth, polished surface on bodywork, canopies and painted parts. Ideal as an intermediate step between painting and polishing compound. For coarser leveling of runs or seams, use coarser grits and work your way up to 2000 gradually.

Abrasive paper is a consumable accessory, not a kit. The best results come from wet sanding with a light pressure.
