Modeling turnbuckles 7 mm long with an eye of 1 mm outside diameter. An accessory for a faithful termination of the bracing wires on a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
A turnbuckle is a connecting link with which a wire on a real machine is drawn up to the tension needed. It is found where a wire ends, that is, on biplanes and older aircraft at the ends of the bracing between the wings and at the fuselage, and on ships at the anchorages of masts and at railings. On a model it is a small thing that a viewer notices only close up, but it is exactly what sets a stretched line apart from real rigging.
The length of one piece is 7 mm and the eye has an outside diameter of 1 mm. The hole through it is therefore noticeably smaller than a millimeter, so bear it in mind when choosing the line: fine monofilament or soft wire that passes through the eye without effort usually suits. Before you start gluing, pass a test piece through and check that it runs freely. Seven millimeters is a length that corresponds on a model to a fairly conspicuous link, so sketch out the layout of the rigging first and think through how many pieces go where.
Work over a mat with raised edges; small parts like to fly off and you will not find them on the floor. Pick them up with tweezers with fine jaws. Pass the line through the eye, draw it level and secure it with a tiny drop of super glue applied with the tip of a wire. Choose the color according to the original and apply it in a thin coat so that the hole of the eye is not flooded. Check the tension against the light; a sagging line is conspicuous on a finished model.
This is a stand-alone modeling accessory. The model, the line, monofilament, glue and paints are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
