NGA-11 Acrysion Gundam Assemble Color (Base Color) - Purple Matt

The color

Purple Matt is a saturated violet in a flat finish from the group of base shades of the Acrysion Gundam Assemble Color range. On models violet tends to be a secondary color: it is carried by a chest panel, a cloak, a visor or the individual parts that are meant to set one machine apart from the rest. A flat surface calms the tone down and lets the shape come through, whereas a gloss violet would overpower everything around it on a large area.

Where it is useful

On robot kits in which violet is part of the color scheme, and anywhere a strong cool complement to gray, white or blue is needed. A flat finish is moreover a grateful base for further work: shade and drybrushing take better on it than on gloss and the transitions are not so hard.

Application tips

• Violet pigments cover worse than grays and whites, so count on several thin coats.
• A light base helps the saturation; straight on dark plastic the shade darkens and loses its spark.
• It is thinned with the thinner meant for the Acrysion range; residues that have not dried can be washed off the tools with water.
• Stir the paint before use and let each coat become tacky before you add the next.
• On snap-fit kits watch for wear in the joints, where a flat coat rubs off.

For builders of robot kits and for modelers who need a ready-made saturated violet without mixing it from blue and red. The thinner, the primer and the clear coat are not part of the package, unless stated otherwise.
