A miniature vise made for modeling work. It holds a small part firmly and still, so that both your hands are free, and with drilling, filing and cutting that is the difference between precise work and a ruined part. The jaws are small and at the same time gentle enough not to mark the part, as long as a soft insert is added to them.
Do not clamp a plastic part all the way; soft material will be crushed. Put a piece of plastic or stiff card between the jaw and the part to spread the pressure. When drilling, start slowly and without force; the drill will find its own path. If you clamp the vise to a table, check that the top is thick enough. After work, wipe the filings off the jaws, because settled dust reduces the grip.
The vise also serves as a counterweight when gluing two parts that are to stay at a precise angle. Clamp one part and hold the other against it until the glue sets.
Protect your eyes when drilling and sanding and do not breathe the dust in. Keep out of the reach of children.
