An injection-molded plastic kit from the popular egg planes line (Q-series) by the Taiwanese manufacturer AFV Club. It is not a scale model but a deliberately distorted, charmingly squat caricature of an aircraft with a huge canopy and a shortened fuselage. The model captures the F-104 Starfighter fighter in the F-104G version in the markings of the Luftwaffe and of the naval Bundesmarine. The package contains plastic parts, a clear canopy part and a decal sheet; thanks to the small number of parts the assembly is quick and manageable even for beginners.
The Lockheed F-104 Starfighter is an American single-seat supersonic fighter and interceptor of the late 1950s, famous for its long slender fuselage and extremely thin, short wings. The F-104G version was the most widespread multirole variant and from the 1960s to the 1980s formed the backbone of the Luftwaffe; the aircraft also served with the naval Bundesmarine in the strike and reconnaissance role.
You glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic. A primer is recommended before painting, and the caricature shape suits more saturated shades applied with a brush or an airbrush. Settle the decals on a gloss clear coat and, once dry, clear-coat to the degree of sheen you want. The kit is rewarding for a quick build between more demanding projects.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
