A detail construction set from the Czech maker Art Scale containing two LMG 08/15 aircraft machine guns, nicknamed Spandau, in 1:24 scale. It is not an aircraft model but a highly detailed accessory meant to enrich fighters of the First World War. The set combines resin with further materials (metal and etched parts) in order to capture the construction of the weapon faithfully, including the cooling jacket.
The LMG 08/15 was the standard fixed armament of German fighters of the First World War. It arose by lightening the heavy water-cooled ground machine gun MG 08; its aircraft version received a characteristic perforated cooling jacket of the barrel instead of the water jacket. The machine guns were mounted in a pair directly in front of the cockpit and fired between the blades of the propeller.
First wash the resin parts free of the remains of the mold release agent, cut off the casting blocks and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue); protect your airways when sanding. The weapons look best in shades of gunmetal with a fine metallic sheen, and the perforated jacket will be brought out by drybrushing and a discreet patina.
This is an accessory set, not an aircraft model. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the basic model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
