Nine aircraft of the Chinese-American composite wing from the fighting over China in 1944 and 1945, decals for 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The unit the sheet is devoted to was a remarkable hybrid. It was formed in 1943 from American and Chinese airmen who flew together in the same crews and under a dual chain of command, and it answered to the American air command operating from inland China. Supply over the Himalayan ridge was so precarious that every tank of fuel counted, and combat missions were aimed mainly at Japanese river convoys, railways and airfields.
Nine numbered options are split between three families of aircraft. A pair of late Warhawks belongs to the 7th Squadron of the 3rd Group, the later-series Mustangs represent the 17th, 26th and 27th Squadrons of the 5th Group, and the four twin-engined Mitchells were supplied by the 3rd and 4th Bombardment Squadrons of the 1st Group. Among them are both aircraft with a heavy bomb load and versions with reinforced forward firepower.
The Chinese national insignia with its twelve-pointed star reads clearly on a model and it pays to apply it last so that it is not damaged by handling. The surface under the decal must be glossy and dry. Anyone after a faithful result will add a dusty tinge from the unpaved strips and slightly faded upper surfaces. Decide in advance which group you want to represent, too: the fighter and the bomber aircraft had a different approach to their markings and mixing them on one model would show.
