Water soluble patina BLACK SOOT 60ml

What the patina is for

It is a water-thinnable effect product for the final stage of a build, that is for the moment when the model is painted and use is to show on it. The Black Soot shade has the color of fresh soot and suits everywhere smoke clings: around exhausts, at the muzzle of a gun, above nozzles, on funnels, boilers and around burned places. A soot trace is not drawn as a line; it is applied outward from the source of the smoke and fades away from it.

How to work with it

• Shake the bottle well before use, as the color component settles to the bottom.
• Apply it onto perfectly dry varnish; a flat surface takes the patina more evenly than a glossy one.
• Work in thin layers and let each one dry; the depth grows with their number.
• Wipe the surplus off with a damp brush or a cotton bud while the layer is fresh.
• The product is soluble in water, so even a dry layer can be washed out again and adjusted.
• Fix the finished effect with varnish, or further work with water may damage it.
• It is thinned with water, and brushes are cleaned the same way, best right after work.

Who it is for

It finds a use on military vehicles, aircraft, ships, dioramas and figures, that is everywhere a trace of use is to show on a model. The volume of 60 ml lasts for a long series of models, because the patina is applied in thin layers.

Terms of supply

What is supplied is a bottle of 60 ml according to the name of the item. Brushes, varnish and other effect products are to be prepared of your own, unless stated otherwise. Work in a well-ventilated room and store the bottle carefully closed out of the reach of children.
