An injection-molded plastic model of the German Focke-Wulf Fw 190A-8 fighter in 1:48 scale from Hobby Boss. It is a new mold with rich surface detail; according to the manufacturer's data the package also contains painting masks for the glazing. The A-8 version was the most widespread and most produced variant of the Fw 190A series.
The Focke-Wulf Fw 190, nicknamed Würger, meaning shrike, was among the best German fighters of the Second World War. The A series versions were powered by an air-cooled BMW 801 radial engine. The Fw 190A-8 of the later part of the war was the most numerous production version; it was notable for its heavy armament and the option of fitting various add-on kits (Rüstsätze), including a drop tank or heavier armament. The machine served in the fighter role as well as a bomber destroyer.
Glue the plastic parts with a liquid model cement for plastic and fill and sand the fuselage joints as needed. It pays to paint and shade the cockpit before closing the fuselage. Apply a base coat (primer) before painting and spray with an airbrush in thin coats; the typical German camouflage rewards accenting of the panels and a gentle wash. Mask the glazing with the enclosed masks.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
