A set of restraint belts for the cockpit of a Messerschmitt Bf 110 model in 1:72 scale from HGW. It takes the place of belts that are missing or only molded in the kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Messerschmitt Bf 110 was a German twin-engine heavy fighter. It was in service from the beginning of the Second World War and during its course became one of the main night fighters of the Luftwaffe. The crew were the pilot and a crew member in the rear part of the cockpit, so the cockpit is long and glazed along its whole length. On the night versions the crew was sometimes three.
It is exactly the long glazed cockpit that makes the interior of the Bf 110 a rewarding and at the same time unforgiving part of a model. The seats are visible, and an empty seat with no belts looks unfinished even in 1:72 scale. Kits tend to have the belts only suggested as relief on the seat, or do not deal with them at all. A separate set is therefore one of the few accessories that shows even after the cockpit is closed up. The seats lie right under the glazing, so not even the canopy frame hides them.
Fit the belts to the seats before the cockpit is closed; with a finished fuselage you can no longer reach them. Work with fine-tipped tweezers and let a belt fall naturally over the edge of the seat or slide down its side, so that it does not look like a stretched strip of tape. The form of the belts differs between individual sets, so check the way they are applied and bonded in the maker's instructions before you open the set and start working with it.
For builders of the Bf 110 in 1:72 scale who want more than a bare seat in the cockpit. The model, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
