The seventh installment in the popular pin-up figure series from the Ukrainian manufacturer Master Box. This is an injection-molded plastic kit of a single figure in 1:24 scale, which must be glued together and painted. The figure is styled as a stylized girl in an American paratrooper's uniform – including jump boots and a sleeve patch. The set's title refers to the motto of the US 82nd Airborne Division.
Pin-up is a visual style that spread during the Second World War: idealized female figures decorated period calendars, posters and aircraft fuselages as so-called nose art. Master Box brings this aesthetic into plastic – figures from this series are therefore often used as an accessory for 1:24 scale airplane and car models, as a display case highlight, or as a standalone practice subject for figure painting. 1:24 is a fairly large scale for a figure, which gives plenty of room for facial and fabric detail.
Remove the parts from the sprue with side cutters and carefully sand down the seam lines – on figures, seams show up most on the arms and legs. Glue with liquid cement for plastic. Before painting, apply a thin coat of primer (ideally with an airbrush) so the paint adheres and any flaws become visible. Build up the skin from a mid-tone flesh color, deepen the shadows with a wash in the folds, and brighten the raised areas with dry brushing or a thinned lighter shade. Paint the eyes with the finest brush you have: the whites slightly grayed, the iris smaller than it looks at first – at the large 1:24 scale, every mistake shows. Shade the uniform and equipment so they do not compete with the skin, and finish by unifying everything with a matte or satin varnish.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
