An injection-molded plastic kit of the modern Chinese Type 052D guided missile destroyer in 1:350 scale from Magic Factory. The model captures the improved 4th batch of the class and is supplied pre-colored: parts molded in different colors make the build easier even for those who do not want to paint the whole model with an airbrush.
The Type 052D is a modern guided missile destroyer of the PLA Navy with a displacement of around 7500 tons. It carries universal vertical launching cells (VLS) and an active phased array radar, and it is the backbone of escort groups. The improved batch brought changes to the superstructure and sensors for a lower radar signature and a more modern combat system.
Decide whether you will build the model with the full hull on a stand or in the waterline version. Bond fine elements such as radars, railings and armament with cyanoacrylate glue and fit them at the very end of the build so that they are not damaged. The pre-colored parts only need touching up and emphasizing with weathering, meaning a wash in the recesses and fine rust and salt traces on the hull and superstructure. Aftermarket photo-etched railings and antennas refine the model further. A final matte varnish is useful for unifying the shades and giving a matte surface.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
