A set of self-adhesive kabuki masks from the manufacturer New Ware for a model of the MiG-21R reconnaissance fighter in 1:48 scale. The ADVANCED line is richer than the basic variant — besides masks for the cockpit glazing it usually includes masks for the wheels, the dielectric panels and other details that would otherwise be masked by hand. It is not a kit or a decal but an aid for clean and accurate painting.
The framing of the glazing and small color areas are slow to mask by hand and prone to mistakes. Pre-cut kabuki masks match the shape of a particular model, hold a crisp edge and stand up to an airbrush as well as a brush. The ADVANCED line also saves time on the wheels and on technical details.
Apply the masks to a clean, degreased surface and press the edges down carefully. Spray in thin coats so that the paint does not creep underneath; remove the mask while the last coat is still fresh. With a little care, kabuki paper can even be used more than once.
The masks are an accessory for a model — the model itself, the paints and the glue are not included in the package.
