Responsibility details are not available.
A set of pre-cut masking templates for building the German DFS 230A assault glider in 1:72 scale. The templates are cut from kabuki masking tape, that is thin Japanese paper with a low-tack adhesive. The paper can be bent over the curve of a frame without creasing and leaves no sticky residue when removed. The set is for masking the glazing and other areas that are to be covered before spraying. It is not a model of the glider and it is not decals.
The DFS 230 was a German assault glider designed to land a small group of soldiers silently right on the target. It became famous for the attack on the Belgian fortress of Eben-Emael in 1940, where several gliders landed directly on the roof of the works. The A version was the basic production model with room for a pilot and a group of infantrymen. The structure was deliberately simple, a tube frame covered with fabric, so that it could be built quickly and with a minimum of material.
Lift the templates off the sheet with the sharp point of a scalpel or with tweezers, not with your fingers. Degrease the glazing before you apply them, otherwise the tape will not hold. Press the edges down firmly with a toothpick so that no paint runs underneath. Spray thin coats; a thick coat will chip when the mask is removed and tear the edge. Take the mask off while the paint is freshly dry, not after days of hardening.
The set contains masking templates only. The paints and the model are not included in the package.
