Shaped plugs that fill the wheel bays of a model of the German Bf 109 G-6 fighter in 1:48 scale during spraying. They keep the paint of the outer finish out of a bay that has already been painted. Compared with the classic approach of stuffing the bay with paper or cotton wool, the plugs have the advantage of an exact shape, they hold in place by themselves and they leave no fibers or glue residue when pulled out.
On aircraft the wheel bays are painted in a different shade from the outer surface and are finished earlier. When the camouflage is sprayed afterwards, however, paint easily runs into them and ruins all that work. A plug closes the bay and at the same time creates a clean edge around the opening. It equally protects interior parts and lines that are already fitted and would otherwise have to be repainted. On the Messerschmitt this is particularly useful, because the bays are shallow and open into a large area of the wing, so they can hardly be missed when spraying from below.
For modelers who paint the wheel bays separately and do not want to cover them with paper again when spraying the camouflage.
The set contains masking plugs only. The paints and the model are not included in the package.
