A kit of the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.II fighter in a finish referring to the song Aces High by the band Iron Maiden. The parts fit together without glue.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Supermarine Spitfire is among the best-known fighters of the Second World War. The Mk.II version was reaching the units in 1940, that is during the Battle of Britain, and it was powered by a Rolls-Royce Merlin V12 engine. Compared with the first Spitfires it was given a more powerful engine and a cartridge starter, thanks to which the machine got going faster. The elliptical wing still makes the Spitfire an aircraft that can be recognized by its silhouette alone.
The name refers to the song Aces High by the band Iron Maiden, whose lyrics tell of a fighter pilot in the Battle of Britain and for which the band uses aviation artwork. The model is therefore less an accurate reconstruction of one particular machine than a tribute to that link between music and aviation history.
The kit is among the models joined without glue, with the parts held by shaped locks. Before fitting them together, check that no excess material from manufacture has stayed in the holes, and press the pins fully home so that the joint lines up. If you take the build on with a more experienced hand, there is nothing to stop you sanding and reworking the parts before joining them; if you want to paint the model, wash it and degrease it, otherwise the paint will hold badly on the smooth surface.
The set suits admirers of the band as well as those interested in aviation who want to have a model finished in a reasonable time and without a struggle with glue. Paints, glue and tools are not needed for the assembly and are not included, unless stated otherwise.
