A Gift Set from Revell in 1:72 scale that brings two separate plastic kits together in one package — the modern Boeing F/A-18E Super Hornet carrier fighter and the legendary piston-engine Grumman F6F-5 Hellcat of the Second World War. Besides the plastic parts and the decals the set also holds basic paints, a brush and glue, so you can get down to building right away. They are two models of two generations of American naval aviation standing side by side.
The Grumman F6F Hellcat was a rugged carrier fighter of the US Navy that played a key role in the war in the Pacific and won superiority over the Japanese machines. The Boeing F/A-18E Super Hornet is the current twin-engine multirole carrier aircraft, the backbone of today's American carriers. The pair thus shows the development of carrier fighter strength from the piston era to modern jets.
Build the two models separately — they are two independent kits with their own instructions. Dry-fit the joints and clean up the seams; finish the cockpits and mask the glazing before the fuselages are joined. Apply the enclosed paints with a brush in thin coats, or thin them for an airbrush. Use a gloss varnish before the decals and finally even the surface out to suit the finish — semi-gloss on the Hellcat, matte low-visibility on the Super Hornet.
The models are supplied unassembled. The enclosed paints, brush and glue are part of this gift set; further accessories are not.
