The German PaK 40 anti-tank gun of 7.5 cm caliber was moved in the field on a pair of wheels with rubber tires, so it could be towed by a motor vehicle or a horse team. The wheels carried the whole weight of the carriage, waded through mud and snow and were among the most worn parts of the gun. The tires were supplied by several firms and a wheel from each of them looks a little different.
Wheels in the late version, with a Continental tire. The set replaces the parts from a kit where the kit offers a different type of wheel or where the wheels are simplified. The replacement part keeps an exact circular outline, has no joint of two halves and the surface of the tire and the disc stays legible on it even once painted.
If the parts are not polystyrene, ordinary cement for plastic kits will not hold on them, so use super glue or epoxy. Cut excess material and traces of manufacture away with a sharp blade a little clear of the part and sand the remainder off so that the circular outline is preserved. Wash and degrease the wheels before painting. The wheel is visible from all sides on a model, so when seating it, it pays to watch that both wheels stand in one plane and that the gun does not wobble. When painting, separate the tire from the disc and finally dust both with the shade of the ground the gun stands on.
