1:35 KwK39 L/42 tank gun ammo boxes

The real subject

The German tank gun of 5 cm caliber designated KwK 39 was among the armament of armored vehicles from the middle of the war. The figure with the letter L and a number, which is attached to the designation of a gun on gun barrels, states the barrel length in calibers, that is in multiples of the bore, not the caliber itself. The rounds were brought to the vehicles in boxes and crates, and those then lay about everywhere ammunition was replenished: on the rear of a vehicle, on the fenders, at a firing position and on the bed of a truck.

What the set offers

A set of ammunition boxes for this gun in 1:35 scale. Empty and full boxes are among the most rewarding accessories in a scene, because they tell a story of their own: scattered around a vehicle they show haste and combat, stacked on a fender they show order and preparation instead. They also serve well inside open vehicles and at the firing positions of guns.

Building and painting tips

If the parts are not polystyrene, ordinary cement for plastic kits will not hold on them, so glue them with super glue or epoxy. Cut excess material and traces of manufacture away with a sharp blade a little clear of the part and sand the remainder off. Wash and degrease the boxes before painting. Painting suits them in layers: a base shade, then chipped edges, light rust and finally dust from the surrounding ground, so that the boxes do not look fresh out of the stores.

Who it is for

For builders of dioramas and for modelers who want to complete a vehicle with a stock of ammunition and with life around it. The package holds ammunition boxes. The vehicle or gun kit, paints and glue are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
