Pilot seat with belts for the Wildcat, 1:72

An accessory set of the pilot seat with a complete seat harness for models of the American Wildcat carrier fighter in the F4F-3, F4F-4 and FM2 versions, in 1:72 scale. It is not a model of the aircraft but a replacement part. Under an open canopy the seat is the first thing visible in the cockpit, and belts cast directly on it save you the work with photo-etch, which is hard to bend at this scale.

Building and painting tips

Separate the parts from the carriers with a fine saw and sand the cut face smooth. Wash the material in lukewarm soapy water and degrease it before painting. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Paint the seat separately, give the belts a canvas shade and the fittings a metal one, and only then set the whole thing into the cockpit. Depth comes from a dark wash in the folds and a light highlight on the edges of the shell.
