The real subject

The Panzerfaust 3 is not the wartime predecessor of the same name, but a weapon of today's infantry. The Bundeswehr introduced it at the start of the nineties and since then a number of other armies have taken it over as well. It consists of two parts: a launch tube with the munition, which is put aside after use, and a reusable sighting and firing unit, which the gunner carries over to the next round. The weapon works on the counter-mass principle, so it can be fired even from an enclosed space without the back blast striking the crew behind the weapon. That is a quality nothing can replace in fighting in a town.

Carried over the shoulder of a figure it changes the equipment of a whole squad, laid on a truck bed or held in a rack inside an armored personnel carrier it fills the interior, and an empty tube put down by a wall tells a diorama what has just happened.

Working with printed parts

Cut the thin supports away with a sharp blade a little clear of the part and sand the remainder off, so that the regular outline of the tube is preserved. Wash and degrease the parts before painting, as print resin residue clings to the surface. They are not polystyrene, so use super glue. When painting it helps to tell the smooth body of the tube apart from the more intricate sighting unit; sharp light along the edges brings the shape out better than another coat of paint.
