A short-run injection-molded kit of the American regional airliner Fairchild Swearingen SA-227AC Metroliner (the Metro III) in 1:72 scale from the maker Sova Model. It is the civilian version of the Metroliner family intended for short and medium regional routes. A short-run mold offers fine detail but calls for a more careful build.
The Metroliner is a twin-engine turboprop aircraft with a narrow, long fuselage for which a very slender cigar-like shape is typical. The SA-227AC Metro III was an improved version with more powerful engines and new wingtips; in the passenger layout it took around 19 people and it was widespread with regional and commuter carriers all over the world.
The long smooth fuselage calls for careful filling and sanding of the joints - any irregularities show clearly under the gloss coat of airline schemes. Apply a primer before painting, spray the metal-sheen and white areas with an airbrush and settle the decals onto a gloss coat.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
