Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the German Sd.Kfz.164 Nashorn tank destroyer in the large 1:16 scale from Trumpeter. It is an extensive kit with a very high part count, individual track links and photo-etched parts; its centerpiece is the long barrel of the 8.8 cm anti-tank gun with a finely rendered breech. Thanks to the 1:16 scale, the assembled result is an exceptionally large and impressive model.
The Nashorn (formerly the Hornisse) was a German tank destroyer built on a common chassis derived from the Panzer III and IV tanks. It carried a powerful 8.8 cm anti-tank gun in an open superstructure with thin armor - the price of weak protection was the ability to destroy Allied tanks at long range. It went into action from 1943 and served as a long-range tank hunter on the Eastern and Western Front alike until the end of the war.
In a large scale both the details and the mistakes stand out - work carefully and first finish the running gear and the open fighting compartment, and only then close the hull up. Assemble and paint the individual track links separately. Glue the plastic with liquid modeling cement and the photo-etched parts with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Even the whole out with a primer coat, apply the paint with an airbrush, bring the metal surfaces to life with a dark wash and use dust and mud pigments on the running gear for faithful weathering.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
