A stylized figure of a Red Army soldier is a scale-free plastic kit from Meng, done in caricature proportions.
Responsibility details are not available.
A plastic kit of a stylized figure from Meng, made without any tie to a scale. The soldier has a large head, a short body and simplified limbs; the caricature treatment is deliberate and this is not a scale reduction of anything.
The casting works with a small number of large volumes, so it can be put together quickly and without any experience of figures. That also means the whole effect rests on the surface: on large smooth areas every parting line, every sprue nub and every brush mark shows. Most of the time you spend on it will therefore go into surface preparation and painting, not into assembly.
Cut the parts off with nippers at a distance from the part and level the remaining nub flat with a knife. Sand the parting lines down through several grits in turn and polish the surface. Lay down a light surfacer, which will at the same time show you where the surface is still unfinished. Paint with thinned acrylics in several coats and keep to clean flat colors; a stylized shape suits a soft shadow in the folds better than heavy weathering. Leave the face until last and treat it sparingly, with small strokes of the finest brush you have. Finish with a coat of matte varnish — it evens out the sheen and hides small irregularities in the paint layer.
The kit is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
