Mr.Color Spray S040 by Gunze is a flat lacquer aerosol with a volume of 40 ml in the dark gray shade known as Panzergrau (Dunkelgrau). It is the spray version of the Mr.Color paints, a ready coat without an airbrush and without thinning. Watch out: it is a lacquer, not an acrylic paint — the solvent can attack sensitive plastic.
Panzergrau was the single dark gray color of German armor up to 1943 — the early Panzers of the period of the Blitzkrieg and of the first fighting on the Eastern Front. It is the second most important German tank shade (the early era). The year makes the distinction easy to remember: gray up to 1943, sand yellow (Dunkelgelb) from 1943. The flat finish matches real hardware and makes an ideal base under weathering — dust, mud, washes and pigments hold better on a flat surface.
