Gunze Mr.Color Spray S109 Character Yellow — (Semi Gloss)

Mr.Color Spray S109 by Gunze is a semi-gloss lacquer aerosol with a volume of 40 ml in a bright yellow from the Character Color range. It is the spray version of the Mr.Color paints — a ready coat without an airbrush and without thinning. Watch out: it is a lacquer, not an acrylic paint — the solvent can attack sensitive plastic.

What the Character Color paints are

Character Color is a range tuned for painting anime and manga characters, robots (Gundam / mecha) and game figures. Against the muted realistic (military) shades these paints are more saturated, cleaner and brighter — exactly the way robots and characters look on screen. A semi-gloss finish is the typical finish of mecha models. The white, red, yellow and blue of this range make up the classic Gundam four — more than one of them often suits a single model.

Specifically, S109 is a bright yellow — the color of the sensors, cameras and small accents of robots. Yellow has the worst covering power of all the colors, so always lay it over a white base (a white surfacer) and in more thin coats — otherwise it shows through and looks dirty.

Use

• Before use shake the spray thoroughly for 1 to 2 minutes so that the pigment is mixed through.
• Lay it down in thin coats from a distance of about 25 cm; a heavy coat from close up causes runs.
• Always over a white base and in more coats — yellow covers worst of all the colors.
• Spray in warm, dry conditions — in damp there is a risk of a white haze on the surface.
