Scarlet is a red with a hint of orange, that is a shade warmer and livelier than a dark blood red. In the version with a fluorescent pigment one more property is added: part of the incoming daylight turns into light in the color of the shade, so the area looks as though it were burning from within. Do not confuse it with glow-in-the-dark paints charged by light, as this one does not glow in the dark.
A saturated red of this kind belongs on features that are meant to be impossible to miss: rescue equipment, the warning markings of machines and vehicles, fire-fighting equipment, sporting and racing finishes, tarpaulins and signal features in a scene. It also finds a use on the small things that are meant to draw the eye to where the center of gravity of the scene should be in an otherwise restrained color scheme.
Expect the weaker covering power that goes with fluorescent pigments. A white base will serve you best, as the shade comes out on it in full; over gray or over a dark area it darkens and stops working. Stir the bottle thoroughly before work so that the pigment settled at the bottom disperses again. Apply several thin coats and let the surface dry between them. Do not display a model with fluorescent areas in direct sunlight, as these shades fade sooner than ordinary pigments. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging for thinning, for the way it is applied and for cleaning the tools.
The paint is supplied on its own. A primer, thinner, varnish and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
