Small precise scissors from the Japanese brand Mineshima with an overall length of one hundred and ten millimeters. The tips are turned upward, so while cutting you can see the blade and do not have to hold your hand over the cut. The manufacturer describes the scissors as sharp and intended for fine work, specifically for cutting out decals and stickers and for cutting fabrics such as felt.
Upturned tips work best with the points directed away from the surface. Keep the sheet of decals flat and cut with short cuts, not one long one; in a long cut the blades open and the film bends behind them. Do not use the scissors on plastic, wire or photo-etch, as hard material will chip the fine cutting edge. After cutting adhesive films, wipe the blades so that adhesive does not build up.
For modelers who work with decals and masks, for diorama builders cutting fabric and paper materials and for anyone who, with ordinary scissors, lacks a clear view of exactly where the blades are biting. The small size also fits the hand when working seated over a sheet, cutting only a few millimeters at a time.
