Vallejo - set of 5 spare No. 11 blades with a sharp pointed tip. The most widely used modeling blade type, suitable for most scalpels with a No. 1 handle.

A package of five spare No. 11 blades from Vallejo. The No. 11 blade is the one with a long, straight cutting edge and a sharp pointed tip - in modeling it is the absolute standard and the most widely used shape of all. It fits most common modeling scalpels with a No. 1 handle, so it suits the knife you already own. It is not the knife itself: you are buying the blades alone as a consumable.
A simple rule applies: a blunt blade is more dangerous and worse than a sharp one. A blunt edge does not cut the plastic but pushes into it - the part tears, the edges whiten and split, and the blade slips easily because you have to push harder. A sharp blade, by contrast, passes through the material on its own and the cut is clean. That is why the blades are sold in fives: they are a consumable and it pays to change them before you end up forcing the cut.
For every plastic modeler and figure builder, and for fine paper and mock-up work as well. Spare blades belong in the workshop just as naturally as glue or abrasives.
The blades are extremely sharp. Handle and change them carefully, always cut away from your body and onto a cutting surface. Do not throw used blades away loose - dispose of them safely (for example in a closed container). Store out of the reach of children.
