A set of four brushes with Kolinsky sable hair, that is with a natural material regarded in figure painting as the best choice. It contains sizes 00, 0, 1 and 2. Against the classic variant, the S series has a shorter, broader tip, so the brush carries more paint and is easier to control over a longer stroke.
Sable hair holds the shape of the tip, draws itself to a point of its own accord and springs back at a touch. That is why it can paint a fine line and a smooth transition alike without the paint sliding off where it should not go. At the same time it takes up more paint than a synthetic, so it does not have to be recharged as often. In exchange the upkeep is more demanding: natural hair does not tolerate dried paint at the ferrule or aggressive thinners.
