A steel cable of stainless steel, 1.3 mm in diameter, supplied in a length of one meter. It replaces the stiff plastic cable from a kit, which never hangs naturally and on which you can see that it was molded in one piece. A metal cable, by contrast, bends exactly as you need and holds its shape once glued to the model.
The cable is shortened with nippers. So that the end does not unravel when cut, put a little super glue on the place of the cut beforehand, let it set and only then cut. The ends are glued into the eyes or end fittings that usually come with the kit; seat them in a blind hole with super glue. Run the cable so that it sags naturally between the mountings; the weight of the metal will help you with that by itself. On smooth metal paint holds worse than on plastic, so degrease the cable before painting and use a base coat; otherwise the finish will rub off during handling.
It suits models of tanks, artillery and engineering vehicles and tractor units, where a tow cable is part of the typical equipment of the machine. A diameter of 1.3 mm corresponds in 1:35 scale to a cable of roughly 4.5 cm in reality, so in the smaller scales compare the thickness with a drawing or with the part from the kit. One meter covers several models, and the remainder comes in useful for other work where you need a thin flexible cable.
The cable alone is supplied. The model, end fittings, glue and paints are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
