Zero Paints are lacquer colours aimed at car modellers. The range targets the shades of specific racing cars, backed by aluminium tones for chassis, wheels and exhaust components. The paint is sprayed onto a thoroughly prepared body in thin passes and the result is normally sealed with a gloss clear, which levels the surface and gives it the depth of real automotive paintwork.
With these paints, preparation decides the outcome: the body is rubbed back in stages, washed and sealed with a base, because a gloss surface magnifies every irregularity a matt finish would hide. After spraying, give the colour at least a day to harden before any clear coat or polishing. The equipment for it is in airbrush equipment, the subjects these shades were matched to are in car model kits, and other solvent-borne ranges are in the parent category solvent-borne model paints.
