This is not an airplane model but an aid for painting. The set is cut to fit the glazing of the Hawker Hunter T.7 and T.7A kit in 1:32 scale from the maker Revell, and in the TFace version. It therefore holds masks for the outer and for the inner side, so the inner frames can be sprayed in the cockpit color. On a two-seat aircraft in a large scale the view into the cockpit is excellent and the difference tells at first glance.
The Hawker Hunter was a British jet fighter of the 1950s, an elegant machine with a swept wing that saw long service with a number of countries. The T.7 version is a two-seat trainer conversion with side-by-side seats, because of which the aircraft was given a wider and markedly reworked nose. It is precisely the shape of this canopy that makes masking the glazing an unpleasant job, because the frames run in curves.
Lift the masks off the sheet with pointed tweezers and lay them on a clean, degreased and dry surface. Once a mask is on, press the edge down with a wooden stick or a fingernail so that no paint can creep under it. Apply the paint in several thin coats; one heavy coat gets under the edge sooner than three light ones. Take the mask off as soon as the surface is dry to the touch, as after full curing it can pull the edge of the coat away. No residue stays behind, and the material can be moved carefully while it is being placed.
The set is supplied as self-adhesive masks. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
