This modeling kit captures a light anti-tank gun of 37 mm caliber in 1:35 scale. It is a smaller artillery model - a reproduction of the weapon itself (the carriage, the gun barrel and the protective shield), not of a vehicle. Assembled, the gun makes an impressive exhibit on its own and a rewarding addition to dioramas on the theme of the prewar Czechoslovak army or of the early period of Wehrmacht service.
The 3.7 cm KPUV vz. 37, the Czechoslovak designation for an anti-tank gun of 1937, was introduced into service in that year as the successor to the older model 34. It was distinguished by a low carriage and a shaped shield that gave the crew good protection. After the occupation of Czechoslovakia the weapon was taken over by the German army under the designation 3.7 cm PAK 37(t) and deployed at the beginning of the Second World War. The 37 mm caliber was effective against infantry and lightly armored targets, but it gradually became obsolete against more heavily armored tanks.
On an artillery model it pays to assemble and finish the carriage, the cradle and the barrel mechanism before the shield is fitted. Clean the small parts of flash with a sharp knife and glue them with care. An airbrush is ideal for the finish - after the base color (shades of gray or khaki, or a three-color camouflage, for example) bring the surface to life with washes into the recesses and suggest dust and mud on the carriage and the wheels with dry chalk or pigments. A flat varnish will unify the appearance at the end.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
