The resin figure Italian tanker of the Gruppo corazzato Leonessa in 1:35 scale fills out Italian army hardware of the late war period.
Responsibility details are not available.
The figure represents a crewman of the Italian armored group that took its name from the nickname of the city of Brescia. The casting is polyurethane resin from the Italian brand Royal Model, and it suits home-built Italian hardware as well as machines taken over from the German ally.
A unit of that name was raised after the proclamation of the Italian Social Republic at the end of 1943 and operated in the north of the peninsula until the spring of 1945. Its equipment was older Italian hardware, namely M-series medium tanks, self-propelled guns and armored cars, supplemented by machines delivered by the German ally. It was committed mainly in the interior rather than to the front line against the advancing front.
Italian coveralls came in a wide range of khaki shades; armored crews commonly wore a leather jacket and the tanker helmet with its padded rim. Keep the tone muted and slightly faded, because crisp new cloth looks false on a figure from the end of the war. Finish the leather parts with a sheen so that they stand apart from the matte uniform, and blend the transitions between them with a dry brush. Paint the unit markings sparingly, since period photographs show few of them.
The item is intended to be assembled and painted; paints and a base are not supplied.
