Photo-etched fenders for the M24 from the Czech maker Eduard are a photo-etched set cut to fit the Tamiya kit in 1:35 scale. It is not a model but an accessory.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not a vehicle model but a photo-etched set. It replaces the plastic fenders of the M24 light tank kit in 1:35 scale from the maker Tamiya. A fender is a rewarding part on a tank model: in reality it is made of thin sheet metal, often dented and bent, and that is exactly what cannot be done in plastic.
Photo-etched metal has one fundamental advantage over injection-molded plastic: it is genuinely thin. On fenders that is decisive, because they are looked at from exactly the angle where the thickness shows most. On top of that they can be bent and left imperfect, so the vehicle looks like a machine that has been somewhere rather than like a fresh product. And the bend fixes itself, as the metal keeps its shape.
Cut the parts out of the sheet on a hard surface; do not break them out with your fingers. Make the bends in a bender or between two blades so that the edge comes out sharp and the same along its whole length. They are glued with cyanoacrylate, that is, super glue; apply it with a pin, not straight from the bottle. Before painting, degrease the metal and give it a primer for metal, otherwise the paint will not hold on the smooth surface. The plastic part the set replaces usually has to be sanded away first.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted as photo-etched metal. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
