A photo-etched exterior set for the Macchi MC.202 from the Czech maker Eduard is a photo-etched set cut to fit the Italeri kit in 1:48 scale. It is not a model but an accessory.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not an airplane model but a photo-etched set. It supplements the exterior of the kit of the Italian Macchi MC.202 fighter in 1:48 scale from the maker Italeri, that is, the parts on the surface of the airframe that are necessarily simplified in injection-molded plastic.
Exterior sets aim at the small things that decide the impression a model makes as a whole: grilles, covers, latches, protrusions and plates that are made of thin sheet metal in reality. In plastic they are molded as a suggested relief, because on their own they would be too fragile. Photo-etched metal replaces them with a part that has the right thickness and casts a shadow of its own, and that shows at once in a photograph of a finished model.
Cut the parts out of the sheet on a hard surface; do not break them out with your fingers. Make the bends in a bender or between two blades so that the edge comes out sharp and the same along its whole length. They are glued with cyanoacrylate, that is, super glue; apply it with a pin, not straight from the bottle. Before painting, degrease the metal and give it a primer for metal, otherwise the paint will not hold on the smooth surface. The plastic part the set replaces usually has to be sanded away first.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted as photo-etched metal. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
