A kit from the Czech maker Eduard, based in Obrnice, in 1:32 scale and in a box the maker marks as Hybrid Edition. The model aims at the version of the Mustang with a bulged sliding canopy, that is, at the modification that dealt after the fact with the main weakness of the early Mustangs.
The P-51B was the first genuinely successful version of the Mustang: the American airframe was given a British inline engine built under license and an average reconnaissance aircraft turned at a stroke into a fighter able to escort bombers all the way to Berlin. One problem remained, namely the framed canopy with the raised rear fuselage spine, through which the pilot could not see aft. British workshops answered that with a bulged sliding hood, which improved the view fundamentally and was fitted to machines in Europe before the version with a bubble canopy appeared.
Finish the cockpit and paint it before you glue the fuselage together, or you will no longer reach it. The parts are glued with liquid cement for plastic and the photo-etched parts with super glue. Fit the glazing and mask it before spraying. Before the decals, go over the areas with a gloss coat; on a matte surface air would be trapped under a decal and the edge would turn white. Unify the finished paintwork with a matte varnish and only then add the chipping and the exhaust stains.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
