Printed engines for the Handley Page Hampden Mk.I bomber in 1:48 scale for the ICM kit. A detailed replacement for the radial engines that will open up the front of the nacelles.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of resin engines for the British Handley Page Hampden Mk.I bomber in 1:48 scale, made by 3D printing. This is not an airplane kit but an accessory for a model already built. The printed cylinders, the finning on the heads and the pushrod tubing are rendered so finely that a plastic molding cannot match them at this scale. The manufacturer has designated the set for the ICM kit.
The Hampden, together with the Wellington and the Whitley, was one of the three British bombers that Bomber Command entered the Second World War with. Its narrow fuselage with a deep profile earned it a nickname that pointed to the shape of a frying pan and offered the crew only very cramped space. The power came from two air-cooled Bristol Pegasus radial engines, which gave the aircraft a decent speed, but the designers underspecified the defensive armament and the armor. After the night raids over Germany the Hampdens moved on to torpedo and patrol duties.
Separate the parts from the print supports with a sharp knife and smooth the pads. Wash them in lukewarm water with dish soap before painting. They are glued with super glue. An engine stands out when metallic shades are laid over a dark base and a dark wash is allowed to run into the recesses. Open nacelles are best planned in advance, because the exhaust piping has to fit into them as well.
The set is an accessory to a plastic kit, not a model in its own right. The ICM kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
