A set of front wheels for the German Sd.Kfz. 9 heavy half-track tractor in 1:35 scale from the maker DEF Model, in the variant with the pattern of the German license production of the Dunlop brand. This is not a vehicle kit but a replacement part that replaces a plastic wheel with a more accurate casting with a legible tread. The manufacturer has designated the set for the Tamiya and Trumpeter kits.
German vehicles ran during the war on tires from several makers and the patterns differed distinctly between them. In period photographs the difference is visible and a modeler building a particular vehicle can go by it. In 1:35 scale the pattern is clearly legible on a wheel this large, so the difference shows on the finished model as well.
Wash the parts in lukewarm water with dish soap and let them dry out; they are glued with super glue. Seat the wheel so that the contact patch points downward. A tire suits a dark gray shade and a dark wash run into the pattern. Apply dried mud only to the sides and the bottom of the wheel, never over the whole surface.
The set is an accessory to a plastic kit, not a model in its own right. The Tamiya and Trumpeter kits, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
