A photo-etched set for the Manshu Ki-79 in 1:48 scale from Brengun refines the details of the Japanese trainer. It is intended for the kit from RS Models and is not a kit itself.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of photo-etched metal parts for the Japanese Manshu Ki-79 trainer in 1:48 scale. The manufacturer states that it is made for the kit from RS Models. It is therefore not a model of an aircraft but an add-on that gives a finished machine the thin, crisp details that injection-molded plastic cannot manage. The set comes from the Czech manufacturer Brengun.
The Ki-79 came about at the Manshu company in Manchuria as a training offshoot of the Nakajima Ki-27 fighter. That had been the first Japanese army monoplane in service, but by 1942 it was no longer enough as a combat machine, and so an advanced trainer arose from it: the A version single-seat and the B version with two tandem cockpits. The later variants used a steel frame with a wooden skin, to save duralumin. After the war a few machines served Indonesian units, and one surviving example is still in a museum in Jakarta.
Separate the photo-etched parts on a hard surface with a sharp scalpel and make the folds in a metal bender or between two razor blades. Glue the metal with cyanoacrylate glue, not with cement for plastic. Degrease the surfaces before painting and use a primer for metal, otherwise the paint holds badly.
This is an add-on for a model. The base Manshu Ki-79 kit from RS Models, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
