The box holds five off-road wheels with a coarse tread pattern in 1:48 scale. The manufacturer gives the outer diameter of the wheel as 16.5 mm. Five pieces are exactly what a four-wheeled vehicle with a spare needs. It is not a kit, but an accessory with which a model is refitted into an off-road configuration or with which a spare wheel is added to a scene. It is made by the Czech Firma49 by SLA, that is 3D printing from resin, and supplied unpainted.
The manufacturer does not state a particular subject for the wheel: the name MUD Rover is its own designation for a stylized off-road tread pattern, not the type designation of a tire or of a vehicle. That is exactly why the wheel can be used widely, on civilian off-road cars, on light military vehicles and on modified vehicles in a diorama.
Before removing the print supports, drilling or cutting, the manufacturer recommends dipping the parts in hot water or warming them with a hair dryer: the resin softens, does not chip off and regains its original hardness once cool. The parts are then sanded and drilled as usual, glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) and painted with ordinary modeling paints. The manufacturer recommends spraying a primer before painting. The tire looks best in a dark gray rather than a pure black shade, with a matte coat and with dust laid on as a pigment from the rim toward the sidewall. The deep tread pattern is the ideal place for dried mud: it is laid on more thickly in the grooves and only lightly on the contact patch, which is rubbed clean as the vehicle moves.
The set is supplied unpainted. Paints, glue, figures and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
